Henry Darger

Going back to the 1800/1900s with watercolor and collage paintings by Henry Darger.  The paintings act as illustrations for his manuscript, The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What Is Known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinnian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion (a daunting 15,145 pages). It is “the tale of seven little girls—the Vivian Girls—who set out to rescue abducted children who have been enslaved by the adult Glandelinians”* Undoubtedly the work should be seen in person for its full effect, but no harm in an internet preview.
